Norwich Head 2022

The winning women’s eight of Amelia Moule, Elise Richmond, Martha Bullen, Evie Prager, Emily Norfolk, Elodie Nicholson, Jess Wilby, Zoe Rogers and Tony Moule (cox).

Members from Sudbury Rowing Club travelled to Norwich to compete in the Norwich Head. The conditions on the River Yare were sunny and breezy and the water was choppy in places.

The first division was 5km and crews had a long warm up row of 8k to get to the start! Four Sudbury crews took to the start - the mens open eight of
Pete Donovan, Steve Zimmerman, Karl Hillman, Raph Franke, Nick George, Harry Moule, Ben Thompson, Byron Bullen and Tony Moule (cox) finished second overall in a time of 18:48.

The mens masters F double Simon White and Robin King finished in a time of 22:49. The mixed double scull of Tim Wallace and Kate Baker finished in a time of 24:20. The womens coxed four of Amelia Moule, Evie Prager, Martha Bullen, Elise Richmond and Jess Wilby (cox) finished in a time of 23:24.

The second division was a shorter distance of 1900m and three Sudbury crews competed in this division. The mixed masters B double scull of Tim Wallace and Kate Baker finished in a time of 7:49. For the womens J18 double of Thea Wilby and Rebekah Franke, this was their first race and they rowed well to finish in a time of 10:05.

Also competing in their debut race was the junior 18 coxed quad of Tom Graham, Rory Fildes, Max Johns, Dhanajay Senthil and Emilia Santamaria-Crew (cox) who finished in a time of 8:03.

The third division was again 5km and there were six Sudbury crews taking part. The mens coxed four of Byron Bullen, Ben Thompson, Pete Donovan, Raph Franke and Eloise Bozwood-Davies (cox) finished in a time of 21:59.
Harry Moule raced in mens single sculls - 22:30. Mixed double Emilia Santamaria-Crew and Tom Graham finished in 26:07. Karl Hillman raced in the mens Masters B single - 27:17.

There were two wins for Sudbury: Steve Zimmerman won the Masters C singles in 22:14 and the womens eight were the fastest womens crew of the day in a time of 21:00, winning the Webster Cup. The crew was Amelia Moule, Elise Richmond, Martha Bullen, Evie Prager, Emily Norfolk, Elodie Nicholson, Jess Wilby, Zoe Rogers and Tony Moule (cox).

Amelia Moule had a very busy weekend - as well as a victory in the womens eight on Saturday she competed in the Tarpley 10/20 on Sunday, running 10 miles. Amelia finished in an excellent time of 1 hour 13 minutes and won the fastest under 21 female award.
