A wet and windy St Neots Regatta

Sudbury Rowing Club raced in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, this weekend. Saturday’s event was raced over a 1000m course with a tricky bend to navigate around the halfway mark. Conditions were very wet and windy, but this didn’t dampen the spirits of the Sudbury rowers as they all put out some fantastic performances.

The two wins of Saturday came from the Open coxed four of Harry Moule, Byron Bullen, James Harbottle, Raph Franke and Amelia Moule (cox), who beat all their opposition ‘easily’, and junior double racing in a senior category Rory Fildes and Dhanajay Senthil. Making it to the final their events were single sculler Brendan Flynn, mixed double Brendan Flynn and Michelle Hurd, and open coxless pair Byron Bullen and Harry Moule.

Sunday was a much brighter day and racing was over 500m. The Open coxed four continued their winning streak to win again this time with Harry Moule, James Harbottle, Nick George, Byron Bullen and Amelia Moule (cox). Second win of the day went to WJ14.1x Lilly Krohn, who impressively won all her races easily. The final SRC win of the day was W.MasCD.2x Sophie Lovegrove and Jennie Ward. Making it to their finals on Sunday were J16.1x Dhanajay Senthil, mixed double Brendan Flynn and Michelle Hurd, J15.2x Rory Fildes and Max Johns, and J18.1x Harry Moule.

Also racing were J14.2x Charlie Murdoch and Hamish Fildes, J15.1x George Goddard, mixed double Amanda Ashton and Stephen Nichols, MasDE.1x John Bowles, mixed double Rachel Bassett and Tom Bryant, MasDE.4+ Kevin Fish, Matt Savage, Paul Shipton, Mark Todd, and Rachel Bassett (cox), and W.1x Michelle Hurd (in her first singles race!!)
